About DepositProof
DepositProof is deposit-deadline compliance for landlords with 1–25 units — the landlords who get sued. Full property-management suites are priced and built for scale: Buildium from ~$62/mo, DoorLoop from ~$69/mo, AppFolio around $1.40–1.49 per unit with a 50-unit minimum (Oct 2026 comparisons) — and their own comparison tables list deposit compliance as not included. Tenant-side tools now arm renters with timestamped photo evidence. Landlords had no equivalent-priced, landlord-side counterpart. That's the gap DepositProof fills — deposit compliance only, at $19–$79 flat.
The deadline engine and the hosted API are built and covered by automated tests: the 50-state rules dataset, deposit-cap checks, depreciation proration, photo-blocker and wear-and-tear validation, statement rendering, per-tenant API keys with plan caps, and self-serve provisioning from Stripe checkout. Hosted photo storage, alert dispatch, and the multi-property dashboard are on the roadmap — the site says so wherever they are mentioned.
The rules dataset is compiled from published secondary sources, dated 2026-10-18, with core states cross-checked against two or more sources. DepositProof is a deadline, documentation, and arithmetic tool — not legal advice, and not a substitute for local counsel.
What we won't do
We will never hold or move your deposit money, rent, or bank credentials. We won't guarantee a court outcome. And we won't sell you rent collection, listings, or a management suite — this is the compliance layer, only.
